Once in Käringsund, you will find a lot of things to do, experience and discover in our surroundings. In fact, you won’t even need a car as everything lies within a walking distance, and there are bikes for rent for longer excursions.

Leklandet Playland

In summertime, the large sports hall Eckeröhallen is filled with enormous bouncy castles, obstacle courses, slides, football grounds and plenty of other inflatable pirate-themed attractions. The playland is full of great fun and games for children, youth and adults who need a break from the beach. The playland offers something for all ages, from two-year-olds to playful adults.

Åland hunting & Fishing Museum

The Hunting & Fishing Museum in Eckerö lies beautifully next to an old fishing harbour by the sea in Käringsund. The museum depicts the life of the bygone days and the hard living conditions of hunters and fishermen who worked for the daily bread for their families. Here you can learn about hunting, fishing and the archipelago way of living. There are plenty of fun activities for families with children, for example Children’s Baltic Herring Market, pearl digging and quiz walks.

Eckerö Wildlife Safari

See the animals up close! Ride in a safari tram which holds about 40 persons, on an unforgettable guided round trip in the 32-hectare game pasture where you can see red deer, fallow deer, wild boar and ostriches. During our round trip we stop to see the animals and you get a possibility to see them at really close distance. The safari takes about 45 minutes and starts at the Hunting & Fishing Museum in Käringsund, Eckerö. More information: 

Vianor Curling Center

At Vianor curling center you can hire ”sheets” for two hours with an obligatory instructor. The ideal size of the team is 8 persons, but also groups of 4-10 persons per sheet can play. There are two sheets, and a maximum of 20 persons can play at the same time. It’s also possible to split a bigger group into two or three smaller groups and take turns. All necessary gear is included in the price.

Käringsund Visitors' Marina & Bodega 

The marina with natural beauty offers about 50-70 berths with electricity, water and WiFi. There’s an adjacent service building with showers, toilets and sauna. At "Bodegan" you will find the harbour office and the café/pub serving meals and beverages. On the hill next to the marina there’s a fine lookout place with a BBQ grill and tables and benches for a spontaneous and relaxing get-together – just the way we like it in summertime.

Eckerö Post & Customs House

The impressive yellow Eckerö Post & Customs House was built 1828 according to drawings by architects Carl Ludvig Engel and Carlo Bassi. Together with Bomarsund Fortress, the building represents the Russian era in Finland and Åland. For a century, Eckerö Post House was Russia’s westernmost outpost and border station towards Sweden. The building is considered to be one of architect Engel’s most important profane building projects. Today the building is filled with culture and offers several interesting exhibitions and other events for the whole family.
